Sermon Notes

Character is going to come from the Lord. The one who is faithful & true

Your gifting can only go as far as your character can sustain it

“Character is not something that you buy; it is not a commodity that can be bartered for; it is not a quality suited for only the rich and famous; rather, character is built upon the foundational commitment of love, honesty, and compassion for others.” — Byron R. Pulsifer

“How we behave toward and around our children has much more influence on their character than if we only tell them about how they should or should not behave.” – Russel Colt

“We are not just products of our past; people in our present also influence us and help mold our character.” – David Packer

“Your character defines who you are by the actions you take. Good, honest, hardheaded character is a function of the home. If the proper seed is sown there and properly nourished for a few years, it will not be easy for that plant to be uprooted.” – George A. Dorsey

“We can depend on what other people think to determine our values. The problem is, the world often values the wrong things. For instance, the world emphasizes beauty over character, or tells us to pursue whatever feels good, or declares that whoever has the most possessions wins. Character is more vital than that.”

“Sometimes refinement of character happens naturally as we grow older. But for many people that growth is fostered by spiritual practices adopted and followed in disciplined way.” – Rachel cowans

“Any fool can criticize, complain, and condemn—and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving.” — Dale Carnegoe

The essential Quality is Diligence

Dilgence is faithful, hardworking, consciousness, thorough, persistent

Diligence is they key ingredient to becoming trustworthy

Psalm 77:6 (NKJV)

I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, And my spirit makes diligent search.

Proverbs 10:4 (NKJV)

He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.

Proverbs 12:24 (NKJV)

The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.

Proverbs 13:4 (NKJV)

The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

Dilligence with  opportunity spells success – Pastor Bill

II Timothy 2:15

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

“Laziness is nothing more than the the habit of resting before you get tired.” – Jules Rena

We as believers, we live in the culture but we don’t have to be enculturated. The kingdom of God has a different culture than the world.

Diligence has in it, a selflessness that is willing to bless others beyond itself.

Selfish, always seeking applause, a lack of compassion, lack of empathy. Everything revolves around “self”.

Entitlement is “I deserve it” rather than “I am blessed to have it”

We are living in a day we’re highly prospered and that’s not an issue of entitlement but of giving thanks.

How Diligent Am I?

  • Do I Do A Thorough Job?
  • Am I Easily Distracted?
  • I Am Generally An Orderly Person
  • Am I Seldom Carless?

What it takes to build character is a straight edge, let’s go after, little decisions day by day.

Character is built in how you make little decisions. Decisions are the result of character.

27:40 –Pastor Bill makes  A very strong and  discernable statement when it comes to the Culture & Entertainment

The longer are entertained, the more passive we become. We give in to come feed me mindset.

Diligence works a character in us that is willing to go beyond being  spoon-fed

3 Real Signs of Lack of Diligence

  • Laziness
  • Selfishness
  • Small Goals or No Goals

Character in Action

*Revelation 19:11

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True…

The Lord is diligent every day to love us, pursue us and pour grace on us every day.

  • Thank God He is always Faithful to you
  • Be real with yourself — take a good look
  • Ask Him (God) to help you build Diligence in your Character

The way we greet people, talk to people, reach out, how we treat our families are signs of character that we are living beyond us.

Our character can be a reflection of God’s goodness and faithfulness he has towards us.
